Problem This Solves
Control join permissions by toggling the Private board switch under General Settings to restrict access.
When to Use This
Open an active Retro or Canvas board with facilitator or owner permissions.
Prerequisites
- Open an active Retro or Canvas board with facilitator or owner permissions.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Access Board Settings: Click the
Settingstab in the top navigation bar of your retrospective board. - Navigate to General: In the left sidebar, click
General. - Locate the Private Board Setting: Find the
Private boardconfiguration box located below the description field. - Inspect Current Visibility Mode: Notice the helper status text: When disabled, the board indicates: "Anyone with the board code can join."
- Enable Private Mode: Click the toggle switch to turn
Private boardON. When enabled, only explicitly invited members can access the board, preventing external or unauthorized joiners from browsing session cards. - Save Visibility Settings: Click the black
Savebutton to enforce the updated privacy rule immediately.
Expected Outcome
Your retrospective board privacy is updated, ensuring confidential discussions are restricted to authorized participants.
Troubleshooting & Realistic Tips
- For sensitive post-mortems or executive sprint retros, always enable Private board before distributing session links.
