How do I send retrospective feedback to Jira and sync issue status?

Create Jira issues directly from retrospective cards, link existing backlog tickets, and assign story points and priorities.

Problem This Solves

Create Jira issues directly from retrospective cards, link existing backlog tickets, and assign story points and priorities.

When to Use This

An active Jira Cloud or Data Center project and an active LetRetro Pro workspace.

Prerequisites

  • An active Jira Cloud or Data Center project and an active LetRetro Pro workspace.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Connect Jira Integration: Go to /dashboard/integrations and click on the Jira card (subtitled: "Create issues from retro cards, link existing issues, sync status, and assign priorities").
  2. Authorize Atlassian Account: Click Connect Jira, authenticate with your Atlassian credentials, and choose your target Jira site and workspace.
  3. Open Sprint Board: Enter any active retrospective board and open the Settings > Integrations tab to enable Jira for this specific sprint.
  4. Convert Cards to Jira Issues: During discussion or action planning, hover over any action card and click the Jira icon or select Create Jira issue.
  5. Configure Issue Details: In the popup dialog, choose the target Project, select the issue type (Task, Bug, Story), assign priority, and add assignee details.
  6. Live Bi-directional Sync: The card now displays the live Jira issue key (e.g., PROJ-142). Status updates in Jira sync back to the card in LetRetro.

Expected Outcome

Your sprint retro action items are pushed straight to your team's Jira backlog, closing the loop between reflections and delivery.

Troubleshooting & Realistic Tips

  • Already have a ticket tracking the issue? Click 'Link existing Jira issue' on the card to attach it without creating duplicates.
